We have high aspirations for the children at Charterhouse Square School, and our pupils flourish in and out of the classroom.

Based in the heart of the City of London, we do things a little differently. Our safe and supportive environment creates a home-from-home for pupils aged 3 to 11, enabling them to achieve exceptional academic results.

Academic Excellence.

We will not compromise on teaching excellence. Our curriculum ensures that every class operates a year ahead of expectations for their age group, and our results are consistently well above the national average at every school stage.

Sport & Competition.

Our pupils have access to Charterhouse Square Garden for lunchtime fun and activities, as well as nearby sports facilities. They all enjoy sporting activities for at least 4 hours per week - that's up to three times more than in state primaries.

Our pupils are encouraged to have a go, embrace challenges and push out of their comfort zones. They are taught to be self-motivated, inquisitive and independent. This confidence builds the foundation for successful futures.

Tushi joins Charterhouse Square School with over a decade of senior leadership experience across state, international, and independent schools. She is dedicated to creating a supportive, inclusive, and innovative learning environment for every child.

Charterhouse Square School has a character and ethos all of its own.

We cultivate a family atmosphere with no school uniforms and build strong relationships on a first-name basis between teachers and pupils - all in our unique central location in the City of London.

Our impressive terrace of seven interlinked buildings offers remarkably spacious and vibrant rooms, providing access to the beautiful Charterhouse Square Gardens. Stretching along one side of Charterhouse Square, we enjoy wonderful views of the serene garden and the historic Charterhouse itself.

Our home has recently undergone a significant expansion, resulting in a remarkable transformation. This expansion has introduced brand-new classrooms, indoor play areas, a dining area serving delicious hot lunches, innovative learning spaces for science and crafts, and music rooms designed to inspire our young talents.

At the start of each school year, our Year 6 pupils are paired up with the youngest members of the school - our nursery children - as part of our buddy system. It’s a wonderful opportunity for both age groups. The older children take pride in guiding and mentoring, while the little ones find a friendly face to help them settle in.

On Monday, our Year 6 pupils were paired up with their nursery buddies for the very first time. It was a special moment as the older children proudly assisted the little ones across the road to the park for a fun-filled play session.

Their engagement doesn’t stop there - whether they’re diving into a book or building intricate Lego creations, their creativity is in full bloom.

In this relaxed and familiar setting, it’s heartwarming to watch our children explore, grow, and learn. The presence of our caring staff is essential, providing reassurance and support that allows the children to fully embrace their creativity and enjoy every moment. As we closed the chapter on another school term, we also bid a heartfelt farewell to Caroline for her retirement. Caroline has been a cherished part of the Charterhouse Square School family for 29 years, 15 of those as Headteacher, and her dedication, warmth, and unwavering support have touched the lives of countless pupils and staff, leaving an indelible mark on our community.

In a gesture that perfectly encapsulates her generous spirit, Caroline arranged for an ice cream van to visit the school on her last day, treating everyone to a sweet surprise. It was a delightful way to celebrate the introduction of summer, and her incredible journey with us. We extend our deepest gratitude to Caroline for all she has given to the school and wish her a joyful and well-deserved retirement. Her presence will be missed dearly, but the legacy of her kindness and care will remain with us always! 🩵

Our holiday club pupils recently had an absolute blast at Gootopia, where they participated in an exciting slime workshop! @gootopiaofficial is a delightful space designed for children to explore and create with slime.

The adventure began with the gooey Slime Science Show, where our pupils were captivated by the fascinating science behind slime. They learned quirky, slimy facts and got hands-on with some of the world’s most unusual slimes. The excitement continued as they collaborated to create a GIANT slime masterpiece. Our pupils loved experimenting with a wide array of colours, mix-ins, scents, and even shaving foam to make the slime wonderfully fluffy - a complete sensory dream!

It was a day filled with laughter, learning, and plenty of sticky, stretchy fun! 🎨🖍️
