Typical School Day

Our daily routine is designed to create a happy, healthy, comfortable and familiar environment in which every child is ready to learn and develop.

Given our broad range of classroom-based and extracurricular activities, it’s fair to say that no two days are quite the same at the school. Having said that, we do follow the same basic daily structure, which is designed to give the children the comfort of a familiar routine and a firm foundation for their learning.

The school doors are open from 8.30 – 9.00am, with lessons starting at 9.00am. Parents are allowed to park outside the school for 10 minutes while dropping off their children, who are usually greeted at the door by the Headmistress and the School Administrator and Registrar.

The first lesson is usually numeracy or literacy which lasts until break time at 10.40am. Children then join other classes and have the chance to catch up with friends while enjoying a drink and a piece of fruit, brought in from home.

At 11.00am lessons start again and continue until lunch at 12.15pm. All children bring their own packed lunch, which we ask to be of a healthy nature. At 12.45pm the whole school goes into the Charterhouse Square garden for 40 minutes of playtime.

The afternoon sessions are usually dedicated to sports, the arts or humanities – but you can find precise details of each classroom timetable in the ‘Parents’ section of the website.

Hometime is staggered between 3.10 and 3.30pm to ease congestion and to ensure that each child goes home with the correct adult. Your child’s teacher will be at the door as each child leaves, so you have an opportunity every day for a quick chat if you have something you want to discuss.
