Work is expected to be submitted back to teachers, but there is no requirement to do this at the suggested times. All families will be working within different capabilities such as wifi strength, access to devices, adults working from home etc.
Feedback might be written or recorded/audio and may be addressed during online sessions depending on the nature of the assignment. With some assignments children will be expected to re-edit and make improvements just as they would in class.
Teaching staff will be keeping a close eye on academic work and will be regularly assessing and reviewing pupils’ attainment and progress. This assessment will continue in line with our usual framework, taking into account both effort and attainment. Where there are specific concerns in any of these areas teachers will contact parents.
Homework and additional resources
We have organised a list of online resources for parents and children who wish to either extend their learning or to access further support. These can be found on the Teams platform under the files tab. We are very conscious of not overloading parents or children but if you wish your child to compete homework in addition to the online work then please inform your class teacher.
Reading is the single most important activity with regards to overall academic progress. Please make the most of lockdown and ensure your child reads daily. As a guide, we recommend 15-20 minutes. Remember this can be newspapers, magazines, fiction, non-fiction, poems etc. For children who are learning to read we are researching an online reading site which could provide a range of books at appropriate levels for the children. This site is currently being checked centrally to ensure it has the right safeguarding requirements to keep your child safe.
For those pupils who are unable to read independently teachers will record story sessions.
