End of Year Letter to Parents
The end of the academic year often means that we are sadly not only saying goodbye to our year 6 children but also to members of staff.
As parents in the Upper House are already aware Marianne Daniels leaves us to join The British School in The Netherlands, thereby returning to her family, following what has been a very difficult year indeed. I would like to thank her for being so professional throughout this period and for bringing so many wonderful and exciting ideas to the classroom. The Stars have achieved exceptional results this year and this in part is due to Marianne’s dedication and sheer hard work, thank you.
We are also very sad to be saying goodbye to Sophie Burns (Red Room teaching assistant) who has worked at the school for over 20 years. Prior to this she worked as a nanny for a Charterhouse family and so her association with the school spans across 25 years. As you can imagine she is part of the fabric of the school and will be sorely missed by all. She leaves us to join forces with a previous member of staff, Diane Pickup, to set up a parenting consultancy business specialising in troubleshooting issues such as behaviour, sleeping and feeding. I am sure you will join me in wishing her all the very best with her new career. Let me know if you would like her details!
Sehra Ammantoola is also leaving as a Red Room teaching assistant to explore the options of becoming a full time teacher. We thank her enormously for all her help and support over the last four years.
Amongst the sadness of departing staff I do have some very exciting news. As you are aware we are introducing a Deputy Head to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) from September and I am delighted to inform you that Julia Maxwell has been successful in applying for this role. She is already on the SLT in her role as Head of Key Stage One but in September she will relinquish this role and work with me three days a week focusing of Safeguarding and teaching and learning across the school. I can’t wait to work alongside her and am sure you will join me in congratulating her on this achievement. Her post as Head of Key Stage 1 will be advertised and filled in September.
Therefore in September the SLT line up will be:-
Mark Hinson – Business Manager
Rachel Agass – Registrar and Administrator
Julia Maxwell – Deputy Head
Robert Knight – Head of Peripatetic Staff/Sports
Rebecca Rouse – Head of Key Stage 2
Catherine Hamlin – Head of Early Years
We also have news that Amy Montgomery gave birth to a healthy, albeit heavy baby boy, Issac Robert Montgomery and that over the summer Catherine Hamlin is getting married and so will return in September as Mrs Rosen. Exciting times for them both.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and enjoyable summer holiday and we look forward to welcoming all the children back on Wednesday 6th September.
