Sport & Competition

The importance of activity.

We know how important it is to keep active. Parents are always pleasantly surprised to find out that we play more sport than most other Prep Schools.

We play around three times as much as state school primaries. Our children enjoy up to four hours of PE and sport each week – and that’s on top of the 40 minutes of exercise they get at lunchtime when we are permitted to use the garden in Charterhouse Square.

Sport in action

Specialist facilities and teachers

Experienced coaching.

Sports provision is a key part of the curriculum with our children enjoying the benefits of the excellent amenities on our doorstep.

From Year 2 onwards, all of our children enjoy a weekly swimming session at Ironmonger Row Baths, a short walk away from the school. They will also take a short coach trip to enjoy the fantastic astroturf facilities at Coram’s Fields.

In addition, our girls and boys receive training from experienced and qualified coaches. They have access to a wide range of sports including football, hockey, netball, tag rugby, athletics, cricket, rounders, swimming and tennis, as well as exercise sessions in PE and aerobics.

It is truly a wonderful school and I feel very lucky that my daughter has been educated here.

Sports events

A key part of the calendar.

Sporting events form an important part of our calendar. For example, in the autumn term, we hold our swimming gala. In July, we have our whole-school sports day, which is one of the highlights of the year for children, parents and teachers alike.

We also compete in inter-school athletics, football, netball and swimming tournaments, and organise football and netball fixtures against local schools – with plenty of parents coming to support the children in action. It’s all part of what gives the school such an exciting buzz throughout the year.
