Sports
Sport plays an integral role in the curriculum at Charterhouse Square School. Sports are taught throughout the day by experienced and qualified coaches. Furthermore, the whole school gets the opportunity to exercise at lunchtime, when we are permitted to use the garden in Charterhouse Square for 45 minutes.
Activities that run throughout the school year:
Aerobics
Taught to the Yellow and Blue Rooms by a professional dance coach.
P.E.
All classes follow a varied PE curriculum, the Green Room using Charterhouse Square garden and the rest of the school using the all weather courts at Golden Lane Leisure Centre.
Sports
A coach delivers the Blue, Raindrop, Rainbow, Balloon, Kite and Star Rooms to Coram's Fields where the astro-turf pitches are used for training in the following sports:
- Autumn Term: football, hockey and netball.
- Spring Term: tag rugby, athletics and football.
- Summer Term: cricket, rounders and netball.
Swimming
The Yellow Room upwards swim all year round at Golden Lane Leisure Centre. Fully trained and qualified coaches follow the Amateur Swimming Association syllabus. During refurbishment of Golden Lane pool during 2011, the school is using Highbury Pool and classes are alternating termly.
Tennis
Instruction from a Lawn Tennis Association coach for the Balloon, Kite and Star Rooms at Golden Lane tennis courts.
Competition and Tournaments
The school holds an annual Upper House Swimming Gala in the Autumn term as well as - the highlight of the school year - the whole school Sports Day at Coram's Fields, held in July. Participation in events against other schools is seen as an important part of school life. We take part in annual inter-school athletics, football, netball and swimming tournaments as well as arranging football and netball matches against local schools.
