Letter to Parents
10 September 2009Dear Parents
A very warm welcome, not only to those returning to a new academic year, but also the parents and children who are joining us this term. I gather the TPN picnic was a great success and was very well attended, and so hopefully a few friends were made then. Many thaks to Sara Patel for once again organising this.
Unfortunately the school suffered a dreadful flood during the holidays with many classrooms suffering severe damage. As I walked through the Balloon Room picking my way through the puddles, ceiling tiles and light fittings, I had to smile when I looked on the wall and saw the famous World War poster saying 'Keep Calm and Carry On'! Luckily all the work in the classrooms is completed but there has been a delay with the loss adjusters approving the new equipment for the ICT suite. Consequently ICT lessons and computer club will not be occurring for the first few weeks of term. Please let me know if the cancellation of computer club causes any childcare problems.
I am pleased to announce that the Star and Balloon Rooms will now have a weekly French lesson on a Wednesday which means that all classes now learn a modern foreign language.
For parents of Lower and Upper House children (Yellow - Star) I would like to invite you to a Curriculum Evening on Tuesday the 22nd September. The idea is that each member of staff will discuss their aims and objectives for the year, answer questions and if necessary demonstrate the methods that we teach. The Yellow and Blue Roms will be from 6:00-6:30 and the Rainbow, Balloon and Star will be 6:35-7:15. The Green and Red Rooms will have an evening later this term. I hope that this will be a fun (we are hoping to serve drinks!) and informative evening.
On a final note please can everyone complete and return the blue Pupil Record Forms so that we can check the contact details we have for you are correct.
All the children look so well and it is lovely watching them catch up with all their friends. We look forward to another happy and busy term!
Best wishes
Caroline
