DecemberLetter to Parents
27 March 2009Dear Parents
This term has simply flown by and I cannot believe that my first term as Head is already over. I am enjoying my role enormously and would like to take the opportunity of thanking you all for your kind words of support and encouragement.
The increased sports provision for Yellow, Blue and Star has proved very popular. The Star Room used their slot to introduce netball lessons and Helen managed to put a team together for the Akeley Wood Sports Festival where they won several matches, a real achievement in such a short space of time. I am sure parents have noticed how keen the girls are to wear their new netball skirts!
School excursions have been a great success with all classes having either a trip or a visiting theatre company. Some classes seem to have squeezed in both, lucky them! Visits have included The National Gallery, Hampton Court Palace, The Museum of London, Guildhall Library, The Florence Nightingale Museum and of course, Woodrow, the residential trip which the Stars visit for a week of outward bound activities.
This year's exam results have again been outstanding with two academic scholarships awarded from City Boys' (it is rumoured only three were offered!), an academic scholarship from Forest and Channing and two scholarships from Portland Place one for drama, the other music. Places were offered from South Hampstead, Highgate, James Allen, North London Collegiate, City Girls', Channing, Francis Holland, Queen's College, Felsted and Northbridge House. What an amazingly impressive list. Congratulations to all those concerned, some people have had some difficult decisions to make!
What an incredibly busy term. Ofsted, the snow, Woodrow, trips, the Premiere Performance given by the Star and Balloon in The Great Hall at Barts, City Dip, drama presentations, Upper House swimming gala, Easter egg hunts and The Easter Bonnet parade. Everyone deserves a well earned rest.
Wishing you all a very Happy Easter and looking forward to seeing everyone again on Tuesday the 21st April.
Caroline
