Letter to Parents - January 2012
Dear Parents,
Happy New Year! I hope you all have had a restful Christmas break. We are covering some interesting topics for our humanities this term. We would be very grateful if you could kindly send in any information (not internet printouts!), artefacts, leaflets, postcards, posters and books you may have to contribute to our lessons.
Science
Rocks and Soils
Magnets and Springs
History
Famous People we will be looking at the lives of Neil Armstrong, Florence Nightingale, Joan of Arc, Mary Kingsley and Guy Fawkes.
Geography
Weather Around the World.
Please bring in your contributions clearly labelled with your child’s name if you would like them to be returned to you at the end of the topics.
We are hoping to visit the Florence Nightingale Museum at some point this term as part of our history topic. I will let you know the date as soon as it has been confirmed.
I am pleased to let you know that as of February, Golden Lane Leisure Centre will be open once again, and swimming lessons will recommence. Our swimming slot will be Monday mornings. Please make sure that your child brings a towel, swimming costume, swimming hat and goggles on this day. It would also be most helpful if girls could avoid wearing tights. I will stick a label in your child’s reading record a week prior to lessons starting.
I am looking forward to another exciting term. Thank you for your continued support!
