Letter to Parents - April 2012
The Yellow Room
Dear Parents,
Welcome to the summer term! The Yellow Room have more exciting topics to look forward to this term which will be as busy as ever. As always we are very appreciative of any books, pictures or information you could bring in; just remember to label it with your child’s name.
Our topics are as follows:
History
The Great Fire of London We are studying how events evolved during the Great Fire of London and an understanding of what London was like in the past. We are visiting the Museum of London to explore the galleries.
Science
Health and Growth The children are learning about healthy eating, food types and the different stages of growth.
Forces and Motions We are looking at how forces can change the movement and shape of an object. This will involve building skills and knowledge through practical investigations.
Geography
Countryside The children will study how the countryside differs from a town; learn about different types of farming and about the Countryside Code.
Seaside In this topic the children will learn about how the seaside has developed, the human and physical features of the seaside and what makes a good holiday resort.
Other information:
- Spelling tests are every Friday morning and we will continue to give their spellings books out on Friday. Please make sure they are back in their folders by Monday.
- Our P.E. lesson is every Thursday. All children are required to wear suitable clothing and shoes for P.E lessons. Trainers or plimsolls are perfect.
- Swimming is every Wednesday. Please make sure your child has goggles and a hat as the instructors have asked for all to wear them.
- The children can borrow a library book to read at home and this is changed fortnightly on Fridays.
Homework diaries (reading records) are used as a form of communication for parents, so please feel free to inform me of any necessary information or ask any questions you may have.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Philippa
Yellow Room teacher
